Happy to share really good news – I successfully passed the Duolingo English Test, after an emotional rollercoaster.

Initially, I registered for the IELTS on August 29th and 30th. Speaking test went well on friday, I felt well-prepared for reading, listening and writing examination on saturday. Last in the row was the academic writing test. Task 1 was already completed and I was doing final tweaking of my essay, as the IELTS app crashed with a blue screen. I still was able to communicate with my proctor verbally, but neither she nor myself were able to recover the app. IELTS regulations request that the reading, listening and writing test must be done on the same day without any interruptions, therefore my test result was „fail“, as I did not finalize the writing session. I was really desperate, as after 4 hours of intensive work I had no result at all.

After I had recovered from my shock, I re-checked Canterbury Universities english language requirements, and I learned that they accept Duolingo English Test. Accordingly, I immediately registered for DET and completed it same day. I was not very optimistic, because I missed the first section of the listening test and thus was not able to answer the questions. Saturday evening, finally, I was totally exhausted.

Today I received my verified DET certificate. With the score of 125, I´m happy to be qualified for enrollment at Canterbury University in Christchurch.
